EQ3 (iOS)

No way in hell I wanted to buy an eq, but after demo-ing it a few times I was sold. I’ll add that this is a really great EQ if you don’t know much about EQing, it is pretty easy to dial in something good-sounding. As mentioned, the bands seem really well chosen.Gavinski (forum.audiobus.us)

The AQ550 faithfully captures the punch, low-frequency transparency, and ultra-tight imaging of iconic American EQs of the late 1960’s.

Making use of Proportional Q intuitively widens the filter bandwidth at minimal settings and narrows it at higher settings without the need for additional bandwidth controls. This unique feature minimizes the «phase-shift» sound found in many equalizers.

Features

  • 3 bands of classic American equalization;
  • Each band offers 7 selected frequency centers;
  • Maximum 15 dB of boost/cut per band;
  • EQ Band 1 and 3 offer shelf/peak switching;
  • Proportional Q narrows filter Q at extremes;
  • Stereo, Mid or Side EQ modes.

The AQ550 provides reciprocal equalization at 21 points in 5 steps of boost to a maximum of 15 dB of gain at each point. The 21 equalization points are divided into three overlapping ranges. The high and low frequency ranges are individually selectable as either peaking or shelving, and a band-pass filter may be inserted independently of all other selected equalization settings. Frequency ranges and boost/cut are selected by switches, and a pushbutton «IN» switch allows the EQ to be silently introduced to the signal path. A small toggle switch is used to insert the band-pass filter into the AQ550.

The AQ550 extends the features of the original hardware and joins the flexibility of the digital world to the character of the analog processing. Allows you to choose between equalizer Modes (Stereo, Mid, Side) and remove Analogue Saturation from the processing circuit to deliver pure digital sound.

KEYS

  • Double click — reset to default value;
  • Shift — reduce knob/fader sensitivity.

AQ550 sounds nice! Price is great... Hope they port it to Mac VST...rpagala (Gearslutz)

IMO, the best API eqs around. M/S available, light on CPU and stable, that's all what I want for now.kolib (Gearslutz)

I haven't tried 550b but 550 is doing great in some vocals and piano. This eq sounds fantastic for the price is unbeatable. I have volko which are API but these sound better to me and like the GUI much better. Definitely, going to try the trident.trevon (Gearslutz)

I like 550B more and more escpecially for drums and others. 550 mostly for vocals then, but depends on... I compared to volko as well, RRS is winner. Trident doing great on backing vocals for me. All these eqs are unexpected nice suprise.kolib (Gearslutz)

Bought 3 of the RRS EQ's — AQ550, AQ550b and AQ560. I am in love with how easy it is to get a good sound. The 3 band eq is my favourite one.GazFromtheManor (Gearslutz)

Really cool sounding.Camilo Calvo (Columbia, App Store)

Their eqs sound fantastic!flo26 (forum.audiobus.us)

These are really nice EQs, definitely worth a demo because the use case is different for sure. These add warmth and girth, and are pretty cheap.mulletsaison (forum.audiobus.us)
